Langley Legion History
Branch #21 received its charter in May 29 1927 the first president was Dr.B Marr and he was the principle organizer of cenotaphs in Murrayville and fort Langley cemeteries believed to be first built in Canada .
The branch had no building at the time and had there meetings in schools and local halls in fort Langley. In 1947 Armstrong Bros. were awarded a contract to build the legion that is at 20702 Eastleigh crest. as branch members finished their day time work they came to the site to assist with the construction, to what we have today.
We have an honour roll bearing the names from the Langley area that served in WW1 & WW2 we have had 38 presidents today is William Kerton, we have about 1200 members today. As today is our 80th anniversary of all Legions. I wish to say thanks to all.
President's Report
Dear Comrades:
Hope you have all had a great summer. As fall approaches, the Executive and myself are gearing up for the busiest part of the year. We have numerous events planned and we hope you all will come out and support YOUR BRANCH. The Branch needs your support. Poppy season is coming up, so lets get out and volunteer for our Poppy Campgain. Remember our "old" and "new" veterans. That is what our Legion stands for. If you have any questions that we can help you with, please come into the office or call us. We are very willing to help you if at all possible.
In Comradship,
Branch 21 President

CARING FOR OTHERS BEHIND THE SCENES
The Ladies Auxiliary within the BC/Yukon Command is an integral extension of the Royal Canadian Legion. Comprised originally of mothers, wives, daughters or other family Legion members, the L.A. assisted with a multitude of fundraising and volunteer services which supported Legion programs.
This tradition of community service has withstood the test of time. The BC/Yukon Ladies Auxilary presently has approximately 3,000 members associated with 100 Legions Branches within 17 Zones. Each L.A. has elected positions, a Sergeant at Arms, Auxilary Colours and other tradtional regalia.
The Ladies Auxilary plan extensive fundraising events and activities throughout the year. They tirelessly volunteer their services and make charitable donations to assist those in need to meet the many challenges of today's society.
The Ladies Auxilary work side by side with the Branch, to help in anyway possible, to make the Branch a welcomeing place to be.
Our L.A. of Branch #21 welcome new members who share in the joy of serving veterans and the community. So, check us out on the 1st monday of every month at 1 p.m.
In Comradship,
Ladies Auxilary President
Suzanne L. Simpson
